A Trip to the Jebel

This was our second trip to Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs at the Jebel house. They have two new Dachshund puppies, Gretta and Gaby ((my apologies to Grandma and Grandpa for not being able to distinguish them by name in the photo captions)) who are full of energy and completly captured Kai’s affection. He couldn’t wait to get back to play with them and would make comments through the next day such as “We sure could use some puppies here.”

A Trip to Arlington

Ben is back from his trip to Portland and we are under the two week’s left point on our vacation. Time sure flies and, of course, we’re falling behind on publishing images to the website. Here are some of a trip we took to see Grandma and Grandpa Wiemann in Arlington Minnesota. It was a nice visit and the kids had a great time in Grandma and Grandpa’s huge yard (and the cornfield beyond) as well as at Lea Ann and Steven’s farm.

Look What We Are Missing

Kai and Nora in the Rain
Last night (Sunday, July 20) we had a brief but intense rain storm blow through in the early evening.  There was lots of rain but not much wind or lightning so it was a perfect time for the kids to get out on the deck with their umbrellas.  As the storm passed over we had a view of a really nice rainbow over the house. ((Towards the end it actually formed a double rainbow which I’ve seen only one other time.  If you look in the upper right corner of the rainbow picture you can see part of the second ring.))

As a counterpoint I thought I’d include a screengrab of what the weather was like in Dhahran as I’m writing this post.  A dust storm with temps of 117 and a dewpoint of 72.  It doesn’t get much worse than that.

Everyone Loves a Parade!

The second day we were back in the States was the Spooner Rodeo Parade. Lea Ann, Steven and Nina joined us as we headed over with Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs’. We arrived just before things got crowded and had some great front row seats for a really wonderful parade. The best part for me was seeing Kai so flabergasted that they were throwing candy. Even near the end of the parade he would turn to me and say “Dad! They are throwing CANDY!”

Visit with Grandma and Grandpa

Last Tuesday Crystal and I went into town for our annual eye appointments and then went on to talk with the cabinet maker and main contractor for our basement rennovation.  Kai and Nora stayed with Grandma, Grandpa and the new puppies, Greta and Gabby.   Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs get photo credit for the pictures below.

Homemade Dough and a Lizard Friend

This post was originally going to be made the day before we left for summer vacation but in the rush of wrapping up projects and packing I didn’t get a chance to hit the “publish” button. Here we are now several days into our vacation in Danbury Wisconsin and I’m only now getting around to posting it.

Stay tuned for more!

Face Paint

On a recent trip to Applebees the waiter gave the kids a soccer celebration kit. Inside was a facepaint stick that looked like a stick deoderant but had the three colors of the Italian flag to make it easy to paint flags on faces. We waited until just before bath time to break it out and they had a great (and messy) time with it.

Back from a business trip

Ben just got back from his 6 day trip to San Antonio for the National Educational Computing Conference which was a fantastic experience.

The pictures below were taken a couple weeks before I left and I took them on the road with me to tive me something to do during all of the travel time. Crystal was getting ready to start here job as curriculum coordinator and so Ben took Kai and Nora to the kiddie pool one morning to give here a little work time. There is nothing like heading to the pool on a hot and humid day and it was really hot and humid that day. The foggy first picture really captures what it felt like.
