2023 Abha Weekend

In mid-June, we took a weekend trip to visit the city of Abha in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia.  In the southwest corner,  the Asir mountains are not nearly as hot and can get rain from the humid air coming in off the Red Sea even in summer.    It was a wonderful trip, enjoy the pictures!

Seychelles 2023

During the May Eid holiday, Ben and Crystal flew to the Seychelles islands off of Madagascar for a lovely holiday.   We had meant to travel here for some time but COVID kept getting in the way.   A beautiful tropical island trip!

Some 2023 Random Photos

In early 2023 we had a new pet join us – Juniper the cat.   Kai and Noah were home for December break and Kai was with us through all of January as he was taking a class online for his winter term.

2022 Mosque Visit

As part of the SAES diversity and inclusion efforts, there are several trips to local mosques hosted each year.  In January, I had the privilege of being able to visit some of the mosques under the excellent guidance of Mr. Ahmad Rammah who, I think, knows people in every mosque in Al Khobar.  The weather was beautiful and it was a day well spent.  Enjoy the pictures!

2022 Jan – Photography Hike – Noah’s View

A follow-up gallery to the previous one.  This is the same hike in the Jebels but with the pictures that Noah took.  Enjoy!

2022 January – Photography Hike – Ben’s View

I had set this website aside for quite some time.  I started a number of posts but never brought them to completion over the last 18 months.   I figured it is time to clear the backlog.  This post is from January 2022 when Noah and I took our cameras and headed up into the Jebels for a photography hike.   Enjoy!

Summer 2021 (gallery 3)

The last gallery of summer in Wisconsin.  It was a good one.  Summers don’t last long enough or come often enough for my taste.

Kai at Brewster

More clearing out of the memory card on the camera.  Here are some pictures from Kai’s first stint at Brewster including drop off, parents weekend and his first trip home.

Red Rocks and Mt. Evans

While the kids were in camp Crystal and I visited some parks and peaks in Colorado – here is a gallery of our trips to Red Rocks as well Mt. Evans.   Mt. Evans boasts the highest paved road (though in some stretches that was being generous) and you can drive all the way to the the top.   It took about 45 minutes to cover the 8 miles of the White-Knuckle Parkway.   Storms were predicted but the skies were clear at the top for us.

Camp Dobbins

This past week Kai spent 6 nights at the Chris Dobbins Boy Scout Camp along with twenty other scouts from Troop 1 in Dhahran.   There was sun, rain, lightning and hail but everyone survived and Kai had an “awesome” time.
