End of Year Scouting Activities

Both Cub Scouts and Daisy Scouts closed out their year. During the Cub Scout crossover Kai became a Webelo II. All of the Webelo II’s welcomed the other advancing scouts by putting on their new kerchiefs for them.

Nora also said goodbye to her days as a Daisy Scout and had the crossover to Brownies with the rest of her troop.

Pinewood Derby and Bahrain

The very last Pinewood Derby came and went last month and both Kai and Nora had a good showing. Kai’s car was competitive but didn’t make the finals. It did, however, win the “Best Carved” award. Nora’s took first place in the Sibling race and won the “Shark Attack” award. Also included are picture from a recent mini-vacation where we went to Bahrain for a weekend of water parks and good food before the sprint through the last month of school starts.

A Few Random Pictures

Here are a few random pictures from recent events including Kai’s stint as a volunteer victim at the Boy Scout first aid day. Kai’s job was to play a Cub Scout who spent the day in the woods and came back to camp all itchy. Each group of scouts would provide first aid under that watchful eye of the adult who was scoring their performance.

Crystal was in Oman so we did a McDonald dinner and a movie night with much of the neighborhood.

Here one of the Boy Scouts gets docked points for touching an itchy cub scout without putting on gloves.

Kai hones his sense of victimhood. Kai played an itchy poison ivy victim for the boy (and girl) scouts to practice first aid on.

Here he was a little nervous because the next group up was...(whisper) girl scouts and they were going to give him first aid.

Cub Scout Campout

Once again I am a few weeks behind the times in getting pictures posted but here are a few from the recent Cub Scout campout. Highlights included fire making, building a catapult, a night time scavenger hunt and winning the desert cookoff by cooking chocolate cake in an orange. We woke up the next morning a rare gentle rain which wasn’t strong enough to be unpleasant but was perfect to focus everyone on a speedy breaking of camp.

Nora joined us on the campout. She loves tagging along with Kai even if she cramps his style.

Cub Scout Crossover

The last big scout event of each year is the Crossover ceremony where scouts are officially promoted to their ranks for next year. Here are a few pictures of the few representatives from den 14.
