Christmas 2019

Here is a gallery from the family gathering for Christmas which included Paul, Lea Ann, Steve, Nina, Sara, Art, Ellen, Julie, Eric, Charlotte, Evelyn and Teddy. With the 4 of us as well it was a cozy house. We feel really fortunate that even with a short trip we were able to gather so many family together at the same time.

Spring Family Pics

Here is a gallery of spring pictures I’ve cleared off the camera to make way for summer galleries… enjoy!

Spooner Rodeo Parade

Last weekend was the Spooner Rodeo parade. We never miss it when we are home in July.

End of November 2014

Here are a few more photos from random November events.  With temps approaching chilly and already a couple of rain showers it is starting to feel like Christmas approaching!

End of the School Year

As we wind down the last few days of this school year we said goodbye to our long time house-helper Jaffar who retired this month.   Jaffar has worked for us since we moved to Dhahran and worked for Ben’s family when he was growing up in Dhahran.

In other news we said goodbye to Kai’s long hair.   He had been growing it out for quite sometime and was really enjoying the mop-head but it finally got too much and he decided to get it cut short for summer.  Enjoy the pics!

Family Photo

The kids are getting big!  Not too long ago the family portrait we had done at the end of last year came through.  Each year a professional photographer comes through to take school photos for the students and he does family photos after hours and on weeks for those interested.

A Visit With Uncle Jim

Yesterday we were able to drive across the causeway and spend a day visiting with Uncle Jim, Aunt Julie, Uncle Eric and Evelyn as well as a shipmate of Jim’s that joined him.  It a typical hot and humid day in Bahrain but a dip in the pool was nice and it was the first time Jim, Ben and Julie have been in the same place for quite some time!

Cold in Danbury

Last night it got down to -15 degrees and the moon was as big and full as I’ve ever seen.  With the snow cover it was bright as twilight outside.

The pictures below are from shortly after we arrived.  There had already been a little bit of snow on the ground so we bundled up and went outside to play and take some pictures.

Leaving Danbury

We’ve been back in the Kingdom for about two weeks now so we are fully adjusted to the time zone but not yet the heat.  We’ve actually had a good run of weather for the last week–it was plenty warm but dry and with a breeze.  Starting yesterday the humidity rolled in though; the heat index hit the mid 140’s with an actual high of only about 104.  Today the high is supposed to get to 111 and the humidity is still here as the windows are already raining ((When it gets very humid the water condenses on the cool windows of the house and completely fogs them over.  When it gets really humid rivulets of water will actually be running off of them.  Kai calls this “raining windows.”))

Today’s gallery contains a few pictures of our last couple of days in Danbury, Wisconsin.  Enjoy!

Grandma and Grandpa Head Home

Grandparents and the KidsIt was a wonderful visit but now Grandma and Grandpa are heading home.  I think that it was a good chance for them to reconnect to parts of Dhahran that haven’t changed and enjoy exploring those that Family Picturehave.   We all did manage to share a pretty nasty cold that has been making the rounds over here and that wasn’t as much fun.   We loved having them visit and hope that they come back again.   In the first picture where it is just Grandma, Grandpa, Kai, and Nora, can you tell that the TV was still on?
