Ealges of Bass Lake

Here are some pictures of Bass Lake eagles I took on a windy day with my long lens Nikon from the bobbing kayak. Not ideal conditions but still some good pics.

Here is one of the bald eagles that hangs out on eagle point. Nora has nicknamed him Colbert.

Turns his head sideways to give Kayak guy the stink-eye.

Had enough and takes off.

From a distance I thought this might be the golden eagle but too small. Juvenille bald eagle I'm thinking.

Sunset Pictures

Bass Lake seems very, very far away now. Here are some sunset pictures on Bass Lake taken from the boat.

A line of thunderstorms track to the north of Bass Lake.

The Fauna of Bass Lake

Here is another nature post but this time only things that scurry, swim, fly, hop and sun themselves on logs.

A dragon fly on the lake. This was a difficult shot as they rarely land for more than a split second.

This is the drain pipe under South Shore Drive where Bass Lake drains towards the Yellow River.

"The Swamp" on South Shore Drive. A great place to spot wild life unless you happen to be carrying a nice camera. Then all you get is the swamp.

When we first bought the place we referred to is as “Danbury” in that Danbury is the closest tiny town at about 4 miles away. As in “can’t wait to go to Danbury”. The kids thought the name of the house itself was “Danbury”. Now, on vacation, our morning greeting when someone wake up is “Happy Danbury!”

The Winter Wonderland

Our winter vacation back to Danbury Wisconsin is over (as are the lengthy flights home). It was wonderful to visit family and friends and connect during the holidays. Playing in the snow and sitting next to a fire while the snow fell outside was a treat as well. As a parting homage to Wisconsin winter here are a few more outdoor shots that I took over the last month.
