News from the Jacobs family in Saudi Arabia
My first trip to Kathmandu! I’m here for two days of work and then Crystal will join me later for the main conference. I was lucky enough to have a window seat with Himalayan views on the way in. Stunning. No other words. That comes from a mid-western flat lander so maybe I am easy to impress but still. Wow!
A guided tour of the local fire station! One of the goals of Cub Scouts is to help the scouts understand their community and how it works and so on a recent weekend we met for a tour of the Dhahran main camp fire station. It was a great experience for the scouts (and the Dads). Who doesn’t love a fire truck!

What do you call a Mom who is not particularly into Star Wars (and honestly she can’t tell a Wookie from a Sith) but nevertheless engages her artistic ability to make amazing star wars cut out cookies? I’m not exactly sure but the force is clearly with her.
Nora turned 4 at the end of September and a week later we had a gathering of friends along with her now traditional Hello Kitty cake. I’ve included a few other recent images as well – enjoy!

It looks like Nora will turn into a pretty good cook. A ruthlessly good cook. Below is a sample of the dialog she recently had with the pile of mushrooms she was chopping for our dinner. She will not eat the mushrooms but she is more than happy to chop them up.
Nora (in a deep, menacing voice): “OK mushroom, now it is your turn”
Nora (as mushroom in high pitch pleading): “No, please! Not me, Heeellllppp!”
Nora (in deep, menacing voice): “Ooooh my Dad is gonnna looooove you!” <chop> <chop> <chop>
