Each year the capstone of vacation is to spend the last evening at Jacobs’ Jebel – the house my parents built in the early 80’s and the closest thing I’ve ever thought of as home in the USA as a child. This year the weather was great and I took Kai and Nora on a 4 wheeler drive around the local fields and forests. We capped it off with a great meal that Grandma Ellen put together and then the next day were off to the airport. So long summer…
The lower valley at the Jacobs ranch. The trees cleverly shield US53.
An old shed down in the valley. I asked Nora if she knew what was in it and she said "that's where Grandpa keeps his bear."

Every year before we head back we take a picture with Grandma and Grandpa. Someday I'll string them all into a slideshow.
