This winter I was all set to do some great astrophotography. It is a really hard thing to do over in Saudi due to the dust, haze, and light pollution but I remember the clear winter nights here in Wisconsin as being just about perfect. Unfortunately, the cloud cover has been almost complete the whole time we’ve been here. A few days after we arrived, the sky cleared enough to see some stars so I went out and took these pictures even though there were still a few clouds. Enjoy!
This shot was taking of the full moon in Saudi shortly before we left for vacation
Handheld shot of the full moon in Saudi
A long exposure of the back swamp with Pam and Lois's flood light looking like a UFO landing in the woods
It was a bit cloudy this night but here is a shot of the big dipper taken from out by the pizza oven
Another long exposure of the neighbors
A long exposure of the house with a few candles. Behind the house the first glimmer of dawn. Seems bright as it is a very long exposure
Another shot of the big dipper. The clouds cleared a bit.
The clouds rolled back in a bit.
Low clouds over Danbury to the north - the town lights are illuminating the clouds. Stars can be seen above.
This one is a super long exposure of the house seen from the North.
Night sky with light clouds but I did catch a shooting star.
First purple hint of dawn over the back swamp
The back swamp
Still a long exposure but caught the moment before dawn where the sky was lightening but the stars could still be seen.
