Back in May we took a trip to the Maldives. The flights were convenient and we were ready for a week in a sunny tropical paradise. What we weren’t ready for was Cyclone Tauk Te to hit while we were these. We still ended up enjoying the trip even though it wasn’t what we had pictured. Here is gallery #1 of the trip.
Your flight is departing soon from gate C1. It was a rainy day when we landed in Male with still an hour in a seaplane to get to our island
Arriving on our island. The rain was an early precursor of the tropical storm to come
A cloud burst in the distance.
The sun did peek out a few times. Here is near sunset from the far side of the island on the first day.
Tropical storm Tauk Te really began to be felt the next day (and the five days after that).
The waves were often crashing over the villa. Good thing the dipping pool was saltwater.
We would use brief respites in the rain to head in to meals. Usually the wind was too much for umbrellas.

Nora dressed up for dinner and headed toward the restuarant.
Enjoying sundowners
During our last two days the sun started to peek out and we were able to appreciate the reef right off the villa.

Enjoying a cocunut in the Maldives
Nora was set on having at least one coconut just for the experience. She didn't like it.
