Kathmandu

My first trip to Kathmandu!   I’m here for two days of work and then Crystal will join me later for the main conference.   I was lucky enough to have a window seat with Himalayan views on the way in.  Stunning.  No other words.   That comes from a mid-western flat lander so maybe I am easy to impress but still.  Wow!

Jim Arrives!

Jim flew into Bahrain earlier today and we were able to get over the causeway and welcome him!   I thought this was worth posting a picture on the blog.   We were thinking that the last time he saw Nora was when she was about 9 months old!   As we were driving away though she did remark that she may go live with Uncle Jim because he was so nice.

It’s Science Time!

Last Wednesday was the Kindergarten Science fair at Kai’s school.  I like the way it was set up–a selection of experiment stations that contained explorations the children had completed.  They got to lead their parents through demonstrations of the types of explorations and observations they had been making in science.  There was no competition, no tri-fold boards and no stunning displays of how gifted the parents were at completing science projects for their children!

Ben from Bangkok

After 6 days in Bangkok I’m ready to come home. It has been an excellent conference but the last two weeks has had me away from home enough.   The picture to the left is a panorama shot from my hotel room window at the Royal Orchid Sheraton.

Below are some pictures of Webster that I took shortly before I left.  I’m looking forward to seeing the little guy!

Kindergarten!!!!

Today was Kai’s first day of Kindergarten and what a day it was.  He is going to sleep well tonight!

In the morning they read The Gingerbread Man and in the afternoon they baked some.  I was expecting Kai to bring one home to eat but instead he could barely contain himself with the story that they put in them in the oven to bake but them someone must have opened the door before they were done because all 17 ran out and were last seen headed towards the library.  Tomorrow they are going to continue the search.

A Few More Summer Pictures

The picture on the left was taken the last night we were in Danbury.  The larger lens for the camera was already packed so this was taken with my basic setup (and a tripod).  It is an HDR image so several exposures were taken and then used to keep both shadows and highlights.

With the gallery below I’ve nearly reached the end of our summer vacation pictures.  I believe there are still some on my phone that I need to get off and there may be some worth posting in that lot.  Stay tuned!

Visiting Uncle Eric

Aunt Julie and Uncle Eric are moving to Bahrain!   Uncle Eric has already arrived and we drove over on Friday to spend the morning with him.  We had a nice breakfast as Ric’s Country Kitchen across from the Grand Mosque (which hosts the worlds largest fiberglass dome by the way) and then went on to a supermarket with good asian produce for some Thai food fixin’s.
