A Few More Summer Pictures

The picture on the left was taken the last night we were in Danbury.  The larger lens for the camera was already packed so this was taken with my basic setup (and a tripod).  It is an HDR image so several exposures were taken and then used to keep both shadows and highlights.

With the gallery below I’ve nearly reached the end of our summer vacation pictures.  I believe there are still some on my phone that I need to get off and there may be some worth posting in that lot.  Stay tuned!

Visiting Uncle Eric

Aunt Julie and Uncle Eric are moving to Bahrain!   Uncle Eric has already arrived and we drove over on Friday to spend the morning with him.  We had a nice breakfast as Ric’s Country Kitchen across from the Grand Mosque (which hosts the worlds largest fiberglass dome by the way) and then went on to a supermarket with good asian produce for some Thai food fixin’s.

Motorcycle Rally

Last weekend was the second annual motorcycle rally here in Dhahran.  It was quite an event with over 200 bike that lined up in main camp and then drove through camp to the soccer field across from the Hills fire station.  It was very loud and very impressive and there was a “family fun day” set up with some music and food at the end.  It was a Harley rally with no beer but plenty of bouncy castles.

Last week we had our first big snow storm and I took some pictures of course.  All told it dropped about 7 inches and it sure gave us plenty to play in.   Over the course of yesterday we got another 7 inches so there may be more snow pictures coming.

Fooling Around at Bass Lake

Kai and Nora are still too small to spend time down at the lake unsupervised but we did enjoy going down as a group to check out the frogs. Last year the lake was way down (leading to about 30 feet of sandy beach) but this year it came back up a bit. Still, the part that was exposed lake bottom that was sandy last year is now sprouted with weeds as tall as Nora.

Ghosts!

Kai and Nora have recently taken to playing “ghost” with Kai’s blankets.  They have a really loose weave so they can see out pretty well when they have them on though Nora still runs into things quite a bit.

Art Time Again!

Crystal is having a great time provding art time for Kai and Nora.  Kai enjoys making things while Nora mostly likes to taste them.  Some recent expereinces were recently held in the backyard–you’ll see why in the pictures.

Big News!

The big news in the Jacobs household is that Crystal has been offered a new position for the upcoming school year as a District Curriculum Coordinator for Saudi Aramco Schools.  She’ll work closely with the other Coordinator to develop and implement curriculum and provide support for professional development for all five schools in the district.  It will mean a move out of the classroom and into an office which will be a substantial change to navigate but Crystal is excited for it.
