The Duluth Huskies Game

Several years ago Crystal had the brilliant idea to take the kids to a baseball game and we landed on the Duluth Huskies at Wade Stadium in West Duluth.  Since then it has been a cherished summer ritual to take in a game, overdo it at the concession stands, get a picture with Harley Husky and then the kids go through the line of players to get a baseball or a shirt signed by the team.

Whenever the team wins they end the game with the crowd singing “Sweet Caroline” and we’ve heard it every year, except this one.   Still, a fun time by any measure.

Duluth Huskies and More

Here are a few recent vacation pictures including our annual Duluth Huskies baseball game which we almost missed due to a nail in our tire.

Fourth of July

Fourth of July started for us on July 3rd this year.   It was a special treat for us – it is the first July 4 that Kai and Nora have really been able to celebrate in the USA.   In the past we’ve arrived on July 4 but were too jet-lagged to enjoy it.

Our big fireworks were on July 3rd when Shell Lake had their display.   Color us impressed – not only were there big crowds but the fireworks far exceeded expectations.   Each time we thought they hit the finally it turned out there was still more.

The big event on the 4th of July was a Duluth Huskies game (they won 2-1).   Hard to imagine being more American than eating a hot dog at a baseball game on the 4th of July.

We capped off the 4th with an unexpected fireworks display over Bass lake that had to have Smokey the Bear needing a change of pants had it been any drier out there!

Duluth Huskies vs. Thunder Bay Border Cats

Last weekend we took in a Duluth Huskies game at historic Wade Stadium in Duluth.  It was a hoot and Kai and Nora’s first introduction to baseball.   Kai caught on to the whole strikes and balls thing but for both the highlight was the concession stands.
