Last weekend was the Spooner Rodeo parade. We never miss it when we are home in July.
Snow Owls with Grandpa
Several years ago Art Jacobs inadvertently made a snow owl sculpture from snow that had built up on a post at Jacobs Jebel. It turned out well so he made a few more and Kai and Nora (especially Nora) seeing pictures of them over the years have fixated on them as one of Grandpa’s specialties. Having a brown Christmas meant no snow fun for the kids but Grandpa Art brought a cooler of snow that had been left over in Spooner that allowed the creation of a snow owl in Danbury. Nora even put a small one together.
From a humble beginning to an ongoing tradition – the Jacobs’ family snow owl.
Danbury Christmas 2014
It was a wonder 2014 Christmas. We had the traditional Christmas Eve fondue dinner followed by a ham dinner on Christmas day. That we were able to spend it with Grandma Ellen and Grandpa Art was a special treat.
Spooner Rodeo Parade!
Yesterday was the Spooner Rodeo Parade! We love going to it every year – in our opinion it is the perfect small town parade – we always leave it feeling red, white and blue. Good clean fun and dirty tootsie rolls picked up off the street!
Vacation!
Post-Wiemann-Jacobs Visit
Here are a few more pictures from the Post-Wiemann-Jacobs visit last weekend. We had a full house with Lea Ann, Nina, Sara, Paul, Bev as well as Grandma Annette and Grandma Ellen and Grandpa Art. The cold weather didn’t keep the kids from having a squirt gun fight outside.
Forts Folle Avoine Rendezvous
Last weekend was the annual Rendezvous at the Forts Folle Avoine just up the road from our house. As is now traditional the Post family joined us for what turned out to be a few days of fun (and record breaking cold temperatures).
The Spooner Rodeo Parade – 2013
Last Saturday we saw the Spooner Rodeo Parade with Grandma Ellen and Grandpa Art. As always it was a hoot and we even saw Uncle Jerry Miller driving a truck in the parade though we weren’t able to get his attention. There were multiple marching bands, fire trucks, and even a vintage Sherman tank and, as always, plenty of candy thrown from the floats for the kids to scramble for. Kai and Nora came away with quite a haul.
Summer 2013 – The first few days
Here are a few pictures from the start of summer 2013. It has been an eventful few days with the delivery of our boat, the roof close to completion on the addition, attending Jerry Hanacek’s service and having a family get-together with Grandma Ellen, Grandpa Art, Uncle Jim and Ron and Sal Miller.
2012 Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve started early when our Elf of the Shelf named Danbury visited and left a series of clues that Kai and Nora had to follow to find their presents. The clues alternated between pictographs (for Nora) and sentences (for Kai) so they could both participate. That craft elf even had them running a few hundred feet up the road to the garage with the temps hovering close to zero. Kai got a small star wars lego and Nora a Hello Kitty hat that she has yet to take off.
Later Ellen and Art as well as Aunt Karen joined us for a wonderful evening of conversation and the traditional Christmas Fondue. The cheese didn’t curdle and there were no burns in the hot oil so – success! Santa’s progress was tracked through the night via NORAD.
At bed time Nora was out like a light but Kai struggled between being unable to sleep due to anticipation combined with a fervent desire to will himself to sleep lest Santa give our house a pass due to restless kids.
