A Visit to Jacobs’ Jebel

Shortly after Thanksgiving we bundled up and headed to Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs at the Jacobs’ Jebel.  Grandpa was still in the woods hunting but we had a good visit with Grandma.  Kai and Nora even got to go up into the loft for what I think was the first time.

Aquarium Society Banquet 2008

We’ve been in Wisconsin for a week now and I’m just getting around to checking back in on the blog. This post was left hanging so I’ll post it now before moving on to vacation pics.

The night before we left for our winter vacation in Wisconsin we attended the Aquarium Society’s annual banquet. It is a very large and vibrant group and there was a dancing and singing show which totally captivated Kai and Nora.

Art School Fun

Last Wednesday Kai came back from Art School with a painting inspired by Van Gough’s Starry Night.  He was incredibly proud of it and couldn’t help but beam when he held it up.  I’ve thrown in a picture of Nora eating crackers because she is just so cute.

Random Pictures

Here are a few more random pictures that were waiting in the queue.  The first couple were taken when Kai came back from art school where they explored mixing colors by mixing different colors of frosting.  A pretty cool idea – and then the bonus was that they got to frost cookies and bring them home.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Yesterday at the dinner table Nora started to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  The best I had on hand was my cell phone camera so excuse the poor quality and slightly out of sync audio.  Kai also sang Rain Rain Go Away which was cute as well.  My favorite part was how she cut him off when he took over the song when she paused for a drink.  She is clearly all Diva.

Halloween 2008

Well folks, this doesn’t happen often but here are some pictures posted in a timely manner.  Last night we did the Halloween thing over on on Nasariyah street at the Collins house.  Word has really spread about this being a trick-or-treating hot spot as we were rummaging for extra treats to give by 6:10PM.   This year we were pretty sure that we had plenty of candy and that we would have to put out bowls at the office the next day just to get rid of it all.  However, just an hour into the event our more than 300 pieces were gone!   Below are a few images from the event.

Visiting Work

Back in early October we had a long break due to the Eid holidays.  Normally we would have travelled somewhere but because we’re taking time in December we decided to stay close to home.  We did make a big day trip to the Riyadh IKEA to get furniture for Crystal’s new office and so the next day we packed up the kids and headed in to put some of the stuff together.  It was a holiday so we had the place to ourselves.  It was a humid one though as you can see from the first shot–it took the camera a while to adjust to the humidity outside
