Life of the very small

Below is a collection of macro shots that explores life right up close in and around our summer retreat. All of the pictures were taken within a 100-foot radius which shows that you don’t have to look far for interesting pictures if you are willing to look differently.

New Macro Lens

What do you get when you cross a new macro lens, a bright sunny day, and a backyard in bloom.

A: This post! Check out some recent forays into the world of the small and close up with a few lens ball photos thrown in as a bonus.

Portraits and Macros

The two kinds of photography that currently have my attention are portraits and macros. I still need more time with my macro technique but I am enjoying the portraits. Hope you do too…

Nora’s Fall Dance Performance

This last weekend Nora had a dance performance at the SAES fall festival. She only had two numbers but she did great – all her dance practice is really paying off! I’ve thrown in a few macro photos of our verdant backyard. For more than a decade and four different houses everything seemed to die in our backyard. I was beginning to think it was me. Now, on house number five we are having success!

Macro Photography

Towards the end of the summer in Danbury I took my trusty Nikon outside on a cloudy day and proceeded to see what sorts of close-up Macro shots might present themselves.  It was a wet summer so most of the interesting objects of small scale tended to be fungus.   Enjoy the pictures.
