Vacation 2011

Our annual vacation started mid-July this year.  We got in a visit to Arlington, hosted some visiting family and even squeezed in a trip to San Diego for a vacation from the vacation.  Mixed in there was a fair bit of cleanup from the July 1 storm that felled a tree on the garage and another against the house.  The rest of this summer will have a slower pace as I recover from a hernia repair surgery.  I had initially thought that the repair from last summer failed but apparently the issue was with a brand new hernia nearby.   Anyway, recovery from this one is going much better than last time.

Here are some photos of the trip over to Danbury as well as our visit to see the Wiemanns and Posts in Arlington on our first weekend back.  Enjoy!

A Visit to Grandma and Grandpa Wiemann’s

Happy New Year Everyone!  We wish everyone a healthy and happy 2011. Today’s gallery is of our visit to Arlington, Minnesota to visit Grandma and Grandpa Wiemann.  We stopped by the Mall of America a couple of days after Christmas (won’t make that mistake again) where we saw Yogi Bear in 3D (our first 3D movie in the theater).   Nora was not overly impressed but the producers of the film clearly nailed the demographic that Kai is smack dab in the middle of.  He couldn’t have enjoyed it more.   After the movie we went to an overcrowded Build-a-Bear workshop where Kai and Nora blew their Christmas money.   Enjoy the pictures!

A Family Visit

A week after we arrived, Forts Folle Avoine held their annual Rendezvous where they reenact the fur trade from the early 1800’s.   On that same weekend we a visit from Aunt Lea Ann with Cousin Nina and Cousin Sarah along with Uncle Paul and Bev.   Both sets of Grandparents also attended and it was a real treat to have everyone together.  Kai and Nora enjoyed having a full house and especially having some other kids around to play with.   It was a great weekend!

Memorial Day 2009

I was in the grocery store in Webster the other day with Kai.   As we were checking out he announced to the woman ringing up our groceries “I don’t have just two Grandma-Grandpas, I have two Grandmas and two Grandpas.”   How lucky we were that both the Wiemanns and the Jacobs were able to visit over the Memorial Day weekend.  Aunt Lea Ann and Cousin Nina also came for several days and Uncle Paul and Bev were able to stop by as well.  The weather could not have been better!

Happy New Year!

Crystal has a small point-and-shoot that I just downloaded the pictures off of.  Some turned out quite well so I’m including a batch of them here and that will be it for the Christmas pictures.  Hopefully by the next post I’ll have some pictures of our new house ready to go–we hope to start moving in the next couple of weeks.

Christmas in Arlington

Christmas Eve we headed down to Arlington, Minnesota to spend some time with Crystal’s family.  We did Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Wiemann’s where we had a great dinner with family.  Kai and Nora tracked Santa on the NORAD site and then put out cookies and made some of our now traditional reindeer oatmeal.  To make reindeer oatmeal you start with some oats but then anything can go in.  Kai and Nora get to choose the spices and do all of the mixing.  Christmas morning Kai was up early but Nora wouldn’t leave the bedroom unless she was holding my hand in case Santa was still there.   It turns out Santa brought all the gifts to Lea Ann and Steven Post’s house so we headed over there still in our pajamas and opened presents from Santa.
