Duluth Huskies and More

Here are a few recent vacation pictures including our annual Duluth Huskies baseball game which we almost missed due to a nail in our tire.

The Fourth of July

For the first time we did the fireworks in Siren this year parked on highway 70 overlooking Crooked Lake. A great show! Nora did her part by painting American flags on everyone’s cheeks.

Summer Vacation Begins

Summer vacation begins!

At the end of May we took a weekend trip over to the Ritz Carlton in Bahrain for a bit of R&R before the end-of-year crunch sets in. We booked a club room but ended up being upgraded to the diplotatic suite which gave us plenty of room. Dinner was a Trader Vic’s nearby which had a fabulous menu. All Kai wanted was a cheeseburger and Nora ordered off menu. Noodles. Just Noodles. Totally plain, nothing on them at all.

Nora sips hot chocolate at Ric's Country Kitchen. We don't get there often but it is arguably the best greasy spoon diner on the island.

They also have a courtyard with chickens and rabbits. Always a hit with Kai and Nora.

Random June Pictures

Here are a few random pictures from June including Robin’s Run, Kai’s cooking and practicing photobombing technique. Enjoy!

The new back yard. It is certainly big!

Kai cooks chicken with what he calls the "survival spatula". It has a bottle opener, knife edge and fork built in. Gadgets are part of the joy of cooking.

Kai make an argument that it is too cold in the house. The root cause of the complaint, I suspect, was that it is more engaging to bundle up and complain that research the Battle of Yorktown.

A Plague of Locust

Here are a few recent pictures including the startlingly large grasshopper that spent 12 hours clinging to the screen in our backyard.

Homework and Pizza

Here are a few recent picture of Nora attempting to get her reading log signed and Kai developing his pizza tossing skills.

Things get goofy

Kai's first shot at making pizza dough like a champ - or at least like Dad.

It took some practice. His first instinct was that all that was involved was throwing the dough in the air and catching it. Challenge enough in that I suppose.

This one looks like it was going up and not coming back. No dough hit the ceiling though.

Eventually Kai's technique evolved to include a decent spin.
