The warm weather seems to have lingered this year and we are only now getting into the days where the weather could be called pleasant. The good news is that a recent trip by our office team to the beach was one of those days. When we pulled up to the beach Kai asked “what lake is this?” Clearly we don’t get out there often enough.

Nora Turns 3!
My how time flies. Giving Nora her first bath in the hospital after she was born seems like a recent memory and here she is turning three already.
Nora requested a Hello Kitty theme for the party and thankfully we had a cake specialist that could handle a Hello Kitty order and our good friend Ellen Alquist had recently been to Japan and so was able to bring back plenty of Hello Kitty swag from the Hello Kitty homeland. Pictures follow–enjoy!

Kai and Nora
I’ve heard that when a parent looks at pictures of their own children the pattern of activity in their brain is strikingly similar to that of a person with obsessive-compulsive disorder. This activity is missing when they look at pictures of other children.
That is interesting but I’m not sure I buy it. Anyway, here are a few more pictures that I’ve put together of the most fascinating and engaging children I know of.
Kindergarten!!!!
Today was Kai’s first day of Kindergarten and what a day it was. He is going to sleep well tonight!
In the morning they read The Gingerbread Man and in the afternoon they baked some. I was expecting Kai to bring one home to eat but instead he could barely contain himself with the story that they put in them in the oven to bake but them someone must have opened the door before they were done because all 17 ran out and were last seen headed towards the library. Tomorrow they are going to continue the search.
A Visit to Bahrain
It has been a long time since I posted – over a month which may be close to a record. There has been a lot of excitement building in the Jacobs household as Kai starts kindergarten on Saturday (8/28). We are all anticipating the event and I will try to get some pictures posted of the first day of school (without waiting a month between posts inshallah).
In other news, yesterday we got back from a visit to Bahrain to see Aunt Julie and Uncle Eric. It was Ramadan which meant many things were closed but, more importantly, less traffic during the day which makes things more pleasant all around. A nice dinner on Wednesday and a little shopping on Thursday (unlike Saudi Arabia, some stores open during the day in Ramadan) made for a nice little trip. Pictures follow…
A Few Random Pictures
It’s a new picture format! We’ll try it for a little while anyway and see how it goes. These are just a few random pictures that were taken in the last couple of weeks but I thought it was time to get some fresh content up. Click on the picture to enlarge. Right-click after it is enlarged to open in a new window (full size).
