Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Yesterday at the dinner table Nora started to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  The best I had on hand was my cell phone camera so excuse the poor quality and slightly out of sync audio.  Kai also sang Rain Rain Go Away which was cute as well.  My favorite part was how she cut him off when he took over the song when she paused for a drink.  She is clearly all Diva.

Halloween 2008

Well folks, this doesn’t happen often but here are some pictures posted in a timely manner.  Last night we did the Halloween thing over on on Nasariyah street at the Collins house.  Word has really spread about this being a trick-or-treating hot spot as we were rummaging for extra treats to give by 6:10PM.   This year we were pretty sure that we had plenty of candy and that we would have to put out bowls at the office the next day just to get rid of it all.  However, just an hour into the event our more than 300 pieces were gone!   Below are a few images from the event.

Visiting Work

Back in early October we had a long break due to the Eid holidays.  Normally we would have travelled somewhere but because we’re taking time in December we decided to stay close to home.  We did make a big day trip to the Riyadh IKEA to get furniture for Crystal’s new office and so the next day we packed up the kids and headed in to put some of the stuff together.  It was a holiday so we had the place to ourselves.  It was a humid one though as you can see from the first shot–it took the camera a while to adjust to the humidity outside

Science Time

I thought it would be a fun science-time experiment to grow some sugar crystals with Kai and Nora so I proceeded to whip up some supersaturated sugar solution and I hung some sticks in it.  I suspect that I missed some crucial aspect of preparing the solution as no crystals formed (perhaps I wasn’t supposed to boil the water).  As as good scientist I know that there is no success or failure, merely data to be analyzed.  Still, next time I’ll read some directions.

Nora Turns Two

We celebrated Nora’s second birthday a little early this year so that we could have some friends over before everyone left for the long Eid holidays (these pictures are from a couple weeks ago and her birthday was a couple days ago).  Most of the pictures below are from the run up to the party since I didn’t get the camera out much during the gathering.

It is amazing to think that it has been two years that Nora has been in our lives.   In some ways it seems like she just came home from the hospital and on the other hand its hard to picture our family unit without her.

Nora – Future Gymnast

I haven’t posted up a video in quite some time so I figured it was time.  This one was taken this summer at a visit to Grandma and Grandpa Wiemann in Arlington where Nora was practicing her summersaults on the living room floor.

Leaving Danbury

We’ve been back in the Kingdom for about two weeks now so we are fully adjusted to the time zone but not yet the heat.  We’ve actually had a good run of weather for the last week–it was plenty warm but dry and with a breeze.  Starting yesterday the humidity rolled in though; the heat index hit the mid 140’s with an actual high of only about 104.  Today the high is supposed to get to 111 and the humidity is still here as the windows are already raining ((When it gets very humid the water condenses on the cool windows of the house and completely fogs them over.  When it gets really humid rivulets of water will actually be running off of them.  Kai calls this “raining windows.”))

Today’s gallery contains a few pictures of our last couple of days in Danbury, Wisconsin.  Enjoy!
