A normal treat about a winter trip to Wisconsin is astrophotography. Wintertime means that the sun sets early and the dry air is usually clearer. This trip was an exception. We went almost three weeks with cloudy evenings and the two clear nights still had wispy clouds and a full moon which made it difficult to get a great shot. Still, a few turned out and it was enjoyable to spend some time outside in the quiet woods at night. Thanks go to neighbors Pam and Lois for letting me shoot from their property that has the best vantage of the southern sky.
Final Days in Danbury
Winter vacation is over but the photos are still coming off the camera. This is the last major gallery which includes chopping holes in the frozen lake, sledding and enjoying time in the “cabin.” I had such great luck capturing 360 panoramas of the clear night sky that I decided to try the same thing with my Nikon. Much harder to do, especially trying to focus in the dark. Still, I had at least one turn out well that I included here. Enjoy!
Night Sky Over Bass Lake
This was my first successful 360 picture of the night sky – previously only seen on facebook until I figured out how to get the 360 degree panoramas to display on the family site. If there is another clear night this winter we will have another go!
