Bears!

The other night a mother black bear and her three cubs walked through the front yard, checked out the fire pit for any half burnt hot dogs and then sauntered off.

Hauling wood. Making two trips is for sucks.

Ealges of Bass Lake

Here are some pictures of Bass Lake eagles I took on a windy day with my long lens Nikon from the bobbing kayak. Not ideal conditions but still some good pics.

Here is one of the bald eagles that hangs out on eagle point. Nora has nicknamed him Colbert.

From a distance I thought this might be the golden eagle but too small. Juvenille bald eagle I'm thinking.

Here is another Danbury gallery (these summer photos are not being posted in the order they were taken). It includes the delivery of the pizza oven and the start of the massive rain we had last week. Over 24 hours we had a little north of 9 inches of rain – never seen anything like it. Rivers flooded and roads closed but we are starting to dry out now. Enjoy!

A Visit to Superior-Duluth and a Huskies Game

Last week we took a trip up to Superior-Duluth. We got some shopping done, had a great visit with Ron and Sal Miller and stopped by Josh Miller’s new shop. We capped off the day with our annual Duluth Huskies game where Kai and Nora both got game balls signed by the whole team and we met some interesting people – the owner, his mother and a major supplier for SACO in Saudi Arabia.

On the way to the Huskies game we stopped at a scenic overlook.

Baseball involves balls, bats, runs and innings but the primary purpose is, of course, soft pretzels, hot dogs and pizza.

The game is about to start and we have great seats. It doesn't look like it but they had a great crowd.

Pizza and Eagles on the Lake

This last Saturday it was all about pizza and eagles. Ellen and Art Jacobs stopped by for some pizza cooked in the wood-fired oven and later I went out for a spin on the kayak and spotted some bald eagles and a big golden eagle in some trees on eagle point. All I had was my iPhone and the fact that you can make out the eagles shows how close I was. Next time I’ll try taking out the camera with the long lens and see what I can get.

Next time I will have to try to bring out my big camera.

Danbury Vacation Begins

Spooner Rodeo Parade

Last weekend was the Spooner Rodeo parade that we attend every year. The cousins, Nina and Sara along with Lea Ann and Steven, Paul Wiemann, Cindy Wiemann and Joe Berryman and, of course, Grandma Ellen and Grandpa Art. Excellent weather and an excellent parade!
